Win It Before You Can Buy It: A Contest!

I was having computer problems last week, but everything seems to be working now, so let's have a contest!

I will give one person a copy of my new pdf pattern, Ribbon and Lace Baby Booties, which will be available very soon on my site, BellaCrochet.com. I will also give them their choice of any one of my other pdf patterns. I will select the winner at random, and send out the patterns in the morning (Saturday.) I will post the name of the winner here, so be sure to check back in the morning to see if you won.
Also, if you post anonymously, please be sure I have a way to identify you (at least give your first name or a nick name in your comment; I have no way of knowing who is posting.)

To enter, just leave a comment answering this question:
Have you ever crocheted a special item for a baby?
This contest is now closed.
Please check back next Friday for my weekly contest.

Yes. I've made many baby items (hats, blankets, sweaters). Right now I'm finishing a blanket for my neighbor's new baby (due in November).

Yes! About 30 years ago I crocheted a white baby blanket for a friend's newborn first child. Four and a half years ago, she gave it back, to my daughter, when my first grandchild was born!

Yes I have; I made a gorgeous set of thread ruffle booties and matching thread bib with embroidery on it. The parents still have these 20 plus years later, hanging the booties on the Christmas tree every year <3! And, recently, my niece became a Mom herself, to a beautiful baby girl and my Sister gave her the set I made for my niece and they are still as pretty as the day I made them!

The year was 2006. we had just moved from nto Western New York and money was tight.

I found out that between friends and family, I would be buying presents for 5 babies who were being born between August and November.

I knew there was no way I could afford this, so I dug out my crochet hooks and started.

I made socks, booties, hats, sweaters and one even got a full sized afghan.

I had forgotten how much I loved crocheting . . I had been cross stitching for years and was burnt out there.

Now, I not ony crochet but I also design my own patterns.

My daughter gave birth to her first child three days ago. Before she was born my daughter showed me several pictures of cute crocheted hats that she wanted for photos and I was able to make almost all of the them in time for her shower and I even crocheted a victorian sweater for her. My daughter was in shock and awe, she did not realize that I could crochet these items! It was a wonderful surprise for her (and me).

Yes, I crocheted several baby afghans and layettes in 2007 when friends had their first baby after 12 years of marriage & the mother nearly 50 years old. It was a miracle baby & deserved hand crocheted gifts. One set I used 100% cotton in multiple baby colors. Another was pompadour white (love pompadour baby yarn!)

I have crocheted baby items for so many years I have lost count. I even crochet baby blankets and sweaters when there is no baby to give them to. I just stock pile them until I need them. In the past few years I have crocheted premmie hats for the hospitals in the area.

My comment must have not posted. I did make a special baby gift, kind of by accident. A few years ago, a co-worker and his wife were expecting a baby they had been trying for, for a couple of years. I made them a vintage bonnet in thread and when I gave it to him a few days after the baby was born, he was over the moon. A few days later, the baby died of complications. When he came back to work, obviously very upset, he came to me and told me that his wife and him would be forever grateful for that lovely bonnet that would always remind them of her. How does one react to that?
