Pineapple Owl Ornament or Bookmark: A Free Crochet Pattern for You

As a special Halloween treat for you, I have designed this cute little Pineapple Owl. It can be used in several different ways; as an ornament, a bookmark or even an applique. It can also be made into a garland or bunting, and it makes an adorable little doily when paired up with my Pineapple Pumpkin Lace

Finishing
When gluing items, it is helpful to place a drop of glue on the tip of a toothpick; use the toothpick to  precisely apply glue to desired spot.
Refer to photo for shaping and placing each piece.
1: Place Owl, Eyes, and Beak on blocking surface. Spray with starch, shape and allow to dry.
2: Glue buttons or glass eyes to Eyes and allow to dry.
3: Place Beak on Owl; position Eyes on sides of Beak and glue all pieces in place.  Allow to dry.
4: For hanging loop  (optional) glue the ends of a folded 8” strand of thread  to the back of the head.

Garland
Make 3 (or number desired) Owls
With green, leaving a 16” piece of thread before starting, (ch 3, dc in 3rd ch from hook) 24 times,  sc in back lp of center st on one completed Owl’s head; *(ch 3, dc in 3rd ch from hook) 12 times, sc in back lp of center st on next completed Owl’s head; repeat from * once more, (ch 3, dc in 3rd ch from hook) 24 times; leaving a 16” end of thread, fasten off.
Use 16” lengths of thread at ends  to tie Garland to mantle, door frame or object desired.

To use as a doily, make the  Pineapple Pumpkin Lace with size 10 yellow cotton, block it and allow it to dry.  Glue a completed Owl to it as shown, and allow to dry.

Thank you, Ann, for another great pattern! I plan to make several of these for place names at the Thanksgiving dinner table. The recipient can then use his/her owl for a bookmark, a rear view mirror ornament, backpack decal,
or whatever. Love them!!
