Friday Contest

It is a beautiful Autumn Friday, so let's have a contest!

I will give one person their choice of any pdf pattern on my site, bellacrochet.com. I will select the winner at random, and send out the pattern on Monday morning (I will be out of town this weekend, so the contest will run a little longer than usual.) I will post the name of the winner here, so be sure to check back on Monday morning to see if you won.
Also, if you post anonymously, please be sure I have a way to identify you (at least give your first name or a nick name in your comment; I have no way of knowing who is posting.)
To enter, just leave a comment answering this question:
Do you have a favorite brand of thread you always use, or do you use whatever brand  that comes in  the colors you need? I often find myself limited by the selection of  colors available.

This contest is now closed.
Please check back next Friday for my weekly contest.

I prefer nicer threads but always end up with what ever thread is available at the time in the color I want.

Lydia's threads are nice. I believe I like the bamboo kind.

I use almost everything if I like the color, but lately I prefer to use soft, nice thread. :)

Often, I am limited by what the stores in my area carry..I purchase thread by color so it doesn't matter who makes it. Thanks for the giveaway...

So many of my supplies are what is given to me or found at yard sales. Of those though, I prefer Aunt Lydia in threads and Lionbrand in yarns.

My eyes always get big when i see Lizbeth thread, but few stores in my area carry it.. They have a wonderful catalog tho!

I am a die hard DMC Cebelia thready. I have to order it online though as there are no stores that carry it. When asked why..the answer is simple..not many use thread and shelf space is money.

i love using thread but it is so hard to buy here in many different colors so i just go with what ever brand i have in my stash from my wonderful overseas friends or what ever i am able to buy off the internet, here in the UK it tends to be white or ecru and i so love to use color in my doilies

I love the cotton size 10, it does not matter what brand (they are all beautiful) The important thing is that the work I have to do is colorated.I started working on crochet about 40 years ago, then they were only white and the beige. Now ,there are all the colors of the world, why use them? but sometimes I happen to not buy any enough to do a particular job and having to wait months before the seller is being supplied with this color.Ciao marid88

I am an avid thread crocheter and have a load of South Maid on hand. When I do use 4 ply etc I use Red Heart. I find its a good quality at a good price and it washes well. What a cute!! pumpkin. Enjoy your weekend!

I usually use Red Heart yarn because that is what is available at the local Wal-Mart, but I love using Hobby Lobby's "I Love this yarn". For thread projects, I like to use Aunt Lydia's bedspread cotton.

Up here in Canada, we are limited to what is available in the stores. The only way to get really lovely threads is to mail order them and then pay huge shipping costs! I really love the higher end Dmc, but mostly use Aunt Lydia's and Coats and Clark because of the colour ranges. I have also been forced to use six-strand embroidery floss for smaller projects just to get a specific colour!

I usually use what I can find in the colors I need...sometimes I even use Dmc perle cotton when I can to give it a little richer look...

Wondering what type you are using Ann, now that the one company closed it's doors. Annie's has some lovely threads, but again the shipping kills you!

Color arrays vary so much by brand that when I am looking for a specific color I have to go with the brand that has what I'm looking for. For the neutral & white I usually use either South Maid or Aunt Lydia's. Thanks for this chance to win one of your wonderful patterns!

I don't have a favourite brand of thread. I'm still looking for it.

I usually use Phildar coton 3because that is always available in the store. I also like to use yarn from Lana Grossa.

I usually use Red Heart yarns. But I have been known to buy what ever I need/catches my eye.

Hello Ann

I'm from Canada too, and find it
lacking in variety for thread brands and color. So I use what I can find.

It is also hard to find crochet books and magazines, which is why
I am thankful for the internet.

Happy crocheting!

I pick by color rather than brand

I tend to go for Aunt Lydia's more often then not. But if I can't find the color I want in that I'll get whatever has the color. I've even dyed my own when I can't find just the right color

I love to use them all. I get some at thrift shops with no wrapper usually..If looks newish I will use. I tend to go by color.

I choose colour first over brand cause if I am not happy with the colour then I don't get as much enjoyment out of what I am crocheting :)

I recently discovered KNIT CRO SHEEN and really love it! The shaded green, periwinkle, candy pink, lilac, medium rose, are very pretty colors. The quality of the thread is amazing, and it is soft. Previous to this, I have chosen LIZBETH by Handy Hands, a nice high end size 10 crochet thread. Holds its shape. 122 yard balls run $4 and up. A lot of varigated colors and pretty solid colors in LIZBETH and they keep coming out with more.. Before they went away, I really liked the color selection of America's Best although the quality was not anything close to LIZBETH or KNIT CRO SHEEN. I also like CEBELIA.

It's all about the colors.

I like DMC Cebelia; however, it is not available in my area. So I usually use Aunt Lydia's which I can find in a variety of colors.

I chose by color, so whichever has the color that is closest to what I'm looking for.

I like to use varying brands for a more delightful color range! ~sMiLeS~
