It is Friday, so let's have a contest!
I will give one person their choice of any pdf pattern on my site, bellacrochet.com. I will select the winner at random, and send out the pattern in the morning (Saturday.) I will post the name of the winner here, so be sure to check back in the morning to see if you won.
To enter, just leave a comment answering this question:
Do you have a favorite crochet tip to share? Or do you need a tip or two?
This contest is now closed. Please come back next Friday to enter my weekly contest.

I have always found it helpful if I am stuck on a step in a pattern to have an equally or better skilled crocheter read through the pattern and give me their interpretation.
Hi Ana
I need two.or more.

Always read pattern carefully 2 or 3 times and start your project.
I have found that it is a good idea to make a copy of the pattern I am working and slip it into a document sleeve so that I can mark it as I work the project instead of marking my original pattern. Also easier to take with me then carrying the pattern book.
Hello Ann!
I found that when making items that needed stuffing i.e. angels, toys that the you could always see the stuffing. So I tried
cutting up used dryer sheets and it
works perfectly. Also smells great.
Also when crocheting found that putting a safety pin at
the beginning of the row lets me know at a glace where I am in the row.
Have a great day Ann!

when leaving your work for the end of the day or whenever you put down your work put a saftey pin in the loop where your hook goes..just in case someone picks up your work..nothing gets ripped out.
I'm always looking for tips. Sometimes I see things that are so helpful and should have been so obvious to me but weren't.
My tip would be if you are having trouble with a certain stitch or looking for new methods for joining there are some great videos available on YouTube.
My tip would be to ch2, when working in the round to bring you up to height for the next dc row. (if you are working dc sts) and then ignore that ch2 and work the dc as you normally would. It does 2 things, it allows your work to look seamless beginning with a dc instead of a ch3 as usual for the first dc and it also fills in the little gap created by the ch3. After making the ch2, I just pretend it isn't there, lol. This tip is for working in the round, not flat.
My tip would be to always start with a "no chain loop" when crocheting in the round. It makes the beginning so much smoother and allows you to pull the loose end to tighten up the 1st round. I always do a double no chain loop to start with.
Loving some of these tips..
My tip is I always keep a baggie with a hook and the pattern usually a photo copy with a particular WIP so I dont forget where I was or what hook I used.
My Tip: When crocheting anything that has several color changes, always hide your "ends" by crocheting them into the next row after the color change. It's a lot more satisfying to finish your project and not have to weave in all those ends.
When crocheting with dark thread, put something light, like a white pillowcase or towel, in your lap to make the stitches show up better.
My tip would have to be to write down on your pattern where you left off. I can't tell you how many times I have walked away and then by the time I get back (could be a day or two) I forgot where I was. I write it all down now. :)
Im always open for tips and tricks
I keep my ongoing projects in a bag near my bedroom door so I will remember to grab it, most of my family and friends live a distance from me and I have made huge progress while my husband drives. I used to do this with books but crocheting and knitting free me up to visit with my family in the car.
These tips are really good I always love to hear other peoples tips my tip is always read through your pattern in peace and quiet 2 or 3 times......
My tip is to wash your hook before beginning a project. With constant use your hooks can get a film on them from the oils in your hands and this puts a drag on the yarn. And, although it might seem obvious, remember to wash you hands each time before working on your project.
I always put the thread wrapper inside the middle of the ball. That way, I can keep up with the brand, size, color name & number, and dye lot or run date. I also make a working copy of the pattern to note corrections, thread color and size, hook size, amount of thread used, and finished size.

These are all good tips. I use a counter to keep up with the rows. I also finish a row before stopping.
Start your kids crocheting really young so you can enjoy lots of quiet, CALM evenings crocheting together!!
Don't ever let a pattern intimidate you if you break it down line by line it becomes managable
Mt tip is for those of us who take orders to sell our crochet work. Sometimes we can get so busy with orders for others that it starts to seem too much like work! I enter all my orders each on a separate page in a small notebook, BUT I also occasionally enter a page with my own name on it. That's my time then to play with ideas, or finish a personal project. It keeps crocheting fun!
Oh I so wish I had a tip worthy of sharing. But maybe.....read a pattern all the way through, even though it may be difficult at first for you to do this, try doing it just once with a simple pattern and that way you will feel more comfortable with it and know what is expected next.
could use any tips I can get
i use freezer bags and put my thread in it while traveling and watching tv. then if can bounce anywhere it wants while i crochet a doily and stay clean. you can have numerous bags bouncing and they are easier to 'untangle'
my suggestion is that the hook is a pastime and as such must re only works when you have no worries, just so you are not mistaken.
