Finishing
Place Cross on blocking surface. Spray with starch, shape as desired. Allow to dry. If desired, a loop of crochet thread or ribbon may be added for hanging.
I want to thank the members of the Threadies Facebook group for testing this pattern for me. I was overwhelmed at the folks who took time from their busy lives to make this little cross and give me their feedback on the pattern (catching a few errors in the process!) Thanks to you all!
Here are a few photos of crosses some of the members made:

Morag Mackenzie was the first person to finish the cross and post a photo.

Kath Baer had the same idea as me for photographing her little cross. I guess it is true, great minds do work alike!!!
Carolyn Hirning-Edelen made this lovely little gold cross. She was the first person to find a mistake in the pattern!

Flower Basket of Roses; A Free Crochet Pattern For You

Several years ago I designed a set of doilies for Annie's Attic called 'Vintage Floral Doilies.' The publishing rights have reverted back to me, and I am now happy to make these patterns available to you for free. I am adding the doilies in the set to the blog one at a time, and hopefully I will have them all available for you soon.
These are my original patterns, so they are written differently from the ones AA published, but they are the same designs.
Today, I have a pattern that was originally called "May Basket" for you. I have made a few changes to the original, but it is basically the same. I hope you will enjoy it!

Carol: A Free Crochet Doily Pattern For You

One of the reasons I love the Facebook group Threadies so much is that it gives me the opportunity to meet and get to know other crocheters and designers better. Carol Thompson-Coolbeth was one of the first folks to join the group when it was started a couple of years ago. I loved her lovely, colorful doilies, and was impressed when I learned that she designed many of them herself. When I admired some of the beautiful shaded threads that she used in her doilies, she generously sent me some from her stash. She said she had purchased them years ago, and now only used them for special doilies, as they were no longer available for purchase. I was touched by her kindness, and decided that I, too, would save the thread for a very special project.
Last week, I was shocked and saddened to hear of Carol's passing. But, I knew almost immediately that the time had come to use the thread she had sent me, by creating a special doily in Carol's memory. Carol loved to use lots of flowers, butterflies and bright colors in her designs, and her first published design was a double pineapple. I tried to combine these things into a doily that would honor her, using the lovely vintage thread that she had sent me.
Carol was an incredibly talented designer. She was always willing to share her vast knowledge of thread crochet by helping anyone who had a question, no matter how small or complicated it was. She added beauty to the world through her designs, her kindness and her generosity. She will be greatly missed.
